Hunt Rules

(1) Answer each clue

Each clue leads to an answer code which you find and enter to release the next clue. Enter text in the answer field of the clue.

The in-game screen for a hunt.

Tap on the “answer” field, enter your answer, and press Check. Don’t worry about capitalization or extra spaces.

Use the information in the clue text, the clue picture if present, and the map if present to solve the clue and find the answer.

The answer could be a written code somewhere, or a thing to be found or revealed.

If and when you get the answer correct, the next clue is revealed. In this way, you advance from clue to clue through the hunt, until the end.

(2) Win the hunt

Win the hunt by solving all the clues, one by one.

All the clue answers are hidden somewhere within the bounds of the hunt. Race to the end as quickly as you can! Or, progress slowly, the hunt itself is the reward.

Check out your score and time after finishing. Compare your score to others. Leave a review of the hunt.

(3) The Map

The map is reached via the map icon in the upper right corner of the main in-game screen.

Clues can have bounds, shown on the map as a blue shaded box. Use the clue bounds to narrow your search!

If you need help, use “Hint: Show location” in the game menu to see the exact clue location on the map. The X marks the spot!

Use ‘?’ to see the map legend.

(4) The Timer

Each clue might also have a timer. This is especially true in an event or competitive hunt. When the time runs out, the answer code is revealed and you move on automatically.

(5) Skip Clue

You can also use the `Skip clue` menu option if you are stuck.

(6) Erase and start over

You can erase all progress in a hunt, either to start over or remove it from your list of active hunts, by selecting “Reset & Exit”.

(7) Event Hunts

An event hunt is a hunt with a specific start time. The app will not let anyone start and get the first clue until it begins. Usually, event hunts are competitive. The `Skip clue` and `Hint: show location` options are not available.

Often, an event hunt has a prize -- cash or other valuable, for the first solver to claim. Non-event hunts can have prizes, too. Once someone claims the prize, anyone else playing the hunt is notified in the app.

Often, event hunt clues have durations, so that the next clue is automatically advanced after some amount of time. This makes up for the lack of `Skip clue`. Also, on clues with durations, the map location hint is given at 2/3 of the clue duration time.
